BASF China Digital Center takes root in Nanjing and continues to consolidate technical strength

August 24, 2022 – The BASF China Digital Center in Nanjing celebrated its second anniversary and announced the accelerated incubation of China’s digital talents. To this end, BASF will further enhance its digital capabilities in a wide range of areas and will include technologies such as enterprise management solutions (SAP) and planning solutions, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and big data, Internet of Things, cloud computing, and e-commerce solutions. Further incorporating China’s unique digital landscape.
BASF’s China Digital Center is located in the center of Nanjing, and currently has about 80 digital experts to support BASF’s local customers and business development. In order to meet the growing market demand for customized digital solutions, BASF plans to expand its team to several hundred in the next two years.

Since the establishment of the center in 2020, BASF has continuously enhanced its digital capabilities in China to facilitate the digital transformation of its business, providing services to BASF’s integrated base in Nanjing and the BASF integrated base in Zhanjiang, which is currently under construction.

As an important foreign-invested enterprise in China’s chemical industry, BASF continues to deepen its efforts in the Chinese market and has established close cooperation with local partners. In Nanjing, BASF and Sinopec established and jointly operated Yangzi Petrochemical-BASF Co., Ltd. in a 50:50 joint venture in 2000. The integrated petrochemical production base supplies about 3 million tons of high-quality chemicals and polymers to the Chinese market annually. BASF also operates a wholly-owned production base in Nanjing, BASF Performance Chemicals (Nanjing) Co., Ltd., which produces a variety of products including water treatment monomers, amine products and coating additives.
