BASF Asia Pacific Performance Materials business unit is located in Pasir
The installations at the Gudang and Pudong sites have now received multiple certifications as part of an effort to support customers in achieving their sustainability goals. BASF’s engineering plastics compounding plant in Pasir Gudan, Malaysia is now International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC+) and REDcert²
Certification. The TPU plant in Pudong, Shanghai, China is also certified to the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) and Recycling Claims Standard (RCS).
Andy Bao, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, Performance Materials, BASF
Postlethwaite, said: “These certifications demonstrate our commitment to being a leader in advancing chemical sustainability, innovation and outstanding industry practice. With these certifications, we are well-positioned to support our customers in achieving their sustainability goals.”
Through mass balance certification, BASF can provide customers with certified low-carbon engineering plastics with equivalent product properties. GRS and RCS certification verifies the amount of recycled content used in the production of thermoplastic polyurethane, which reduces the consumption of fossil-based raw materials.
ISCC is an internationally recognized mass balance approach certification scheme. Its relevant standards cover all stages of the value chain and are used around the world. ISCC+
Further certification options are provided, including all types of agricultural and forestry raw materials, food, chemical/technical materials, bio-based products, and other areas where biomass may actually be used. REDcert²
It is a certification system for sustainable use of biomass. According to the REDcert² standard, mass balance ensures the correct distribution of renewable resources in the products sold. GRS and
RCS makes an active contribution to sustainable development. In addition to verifying recycled raw materials, these certifications track their journey from raw material to final product, confirming the use of chemicals throughout the production process, while safeguarding social responsibility and environmental behavior.
