Shell scraps turn into water-based paint, new paint project is praised

The shell scraps of coastal farmers have become “golden knots” in the hands of the academician team, and become the raw materials for new coating… In mid-January this year, Qingdao International Academician Port was officially launched In the 2019 academician project promotion event, the first promotion focused on the series of environmental protection technology projects of Academician Hou Li’an. During the event, participating companies paid great attention to and showed great interest in the three high-tech and high value-added products of the integrated board, water-based paint and fresh air system. There were 9 companies on site. Successfully signed a contract with a contract value of about 3.7 billion yuan, and reached a cooperation intention of nearly 6.5 billion yuan with 22 companies.

Shell scraps become a new type of coating material
One of the highlights at this promotion conference was the shell water-based paint project. Zhou Yi, chief engineer of Qingdao Rongchuang Innovation Materials Engineering Research Institute, introduced that this new type of coating has many unique advantages over traditional coatings in terms of use characteristics, and it also explores a unique path in waste recycling. “As the name suggests, the main raw material of water-based shell coatings is shell scraps. The main ingredient in shells is calcium oxide. After multiple processes, it can become a new high-quality coating that residents can apply at home.” Zhou Yi said.
As a coastal city in Qingdao, shell scraps are very common. Zhou Yi introduced that they found a sufficient source of shells in a coastal village in Jimo District. “This village cultivates a lot of sea oysters, and the accumulated shell scraps are more than 500 tons every day. In summer, shells breed mosquitoes and pollute the environment. Most of the villagers bury them in deep trenches. We have found a new way out for these discarded shell scraps, and the utilization rate will reach at least 90%.” Zhou Yi told reporters that they plan to do the next step. In the village, the fishermen were given free shellfish processing equipment, and these raw materials were sent to the factory to produce shell water-based paint. “In the future, it is expected that more than ten million tons of shell scraps will be digested in Qingdao every year.” Zhou Yi said.
According to reports, the 2019 Qingdao International Academician Hong Kong Academician Project Promotion Activity plans to adopt diversified methods such as column promotion, centralized display, e-commerce, platform promotion, etc., to promote a contracted academician and Hong Kong academician and projects every week, focusing on academicians and academicians. Recommend research results, patented technologies, R&D products and cooperation resources. To
