Yangzi Petrochemical has developed polyethylene resin for water-based coatings to fill the domestic gap

In April 2018, Yangzi Petrochemical successfully trial-produced more than 100 tons of polyethylene resin for water-based coatings. This is the company’s another successful trial production after October last year. This indicates that the company has successfully developed polyethylene resin for water-based coating, filling the domestic gap.
In March last year, when investigating the market and visiting customers, researchers from the Yangzi Petrochemical Research Institute found that, compared with traditional coatings, water-based coatings are non-toxic, harmless, odorless, and non-polluting to the environment. They are new types of environmental friendly coatings. It is becoming more and more recognized and favored by the public, and the market demand is great. However, polyethylene resin, an auxiliary for the production of water-based coatings, is in short supply, and there are no domestic companies capable of producing such polyethylene resins. For a long time, this production technology has been monopolized by a foreign multinational company, and domestic customers can only rely on imports, which is expensive.
As an important additive for water-based coatings, special polyethylene resins can change or enhance the color, appearance, stability, weather resistance of coating products, and are resistant to scratches and abrasion. It can also improve the production process and reduce environmental pollution. Improving and improving the performance of coatings plays a very critical role.
After sufficient market research and demonstration, Yangzi Petrochemical Research Institute decided to trial production of this special polyethylene resin material. Yangtze Research Institute made full use of the company’s powder equipment production advantages, combined with customer needs, and provided complete industrial production technical solutions. In October 2017, it successfully realized the first industrial trial production, producing more than 100 tons of products.
After the first batch of trial production products were delivered to customers for trial, they received good feedback and were well received by customers. According to customer needs, in April this year, the second trial production was carried out. In addition to the application of water-based coatings, Yangzi Petrochemical researchers are currently expanding the scope of application of the product, cultivating new customer groups, and working hard for the company’s high-value-added product mass production.
