On September 21, Akzo Nobel announced that its specialty chemicals business is studying plans to build a world-class factory for its Bermocoll® business, which will provide necessary supplies for the paint and construction industries. Element.
The research is expected to be completed before the end of 2017, and the focus is to build a new facility to increase the production capacity of EHEC cellulose ethers to meet the growing global demand.
Akzo Nobel is considering a number of locations for the new EHEC plant, including the option of expanding business in the company’s existing production base.
Geert Hofman, general manager of Akzo Nobel Bermocoll business, explained: “Due to the continuous increase in consumption of water-based coatings and the continuous growth of the construction industry, the demand for Bermocoll is growing strongly. New construction. The factory will enable us to support market growth and provide customers with long-term supply security.”
Regarding these plans, Werner Fuhrmann, member of Akzo Nobel’s Executive Committee responsible for specialty chemicals, said: “Bermocoll provides outstanding performance and provides customers with important sustainable development advantages because they are based on renewable raw materials.” He also Added that the expansion plan highlights the company’s and customer growth strategy.
The Bermocoll series of products have been produced for more than 50 years and are currently sold in more than 80 countries and regions. Water-soluble and almost odorless, they provide many benefits for water-based coatings, including improved viscosity, splash and sag resistance, as well as better color stability and hiding power. In the construction industry, Bermocoll is also used as an ingredient in dry-mix mortars to help improve adhesion, flexibility, water retention and workability.
Akzo Nobel is one of the world’s leading cellulose producers, with production plants in China, Italy, the Netherlands and Sweden.
