In order to strengthen the control of decoration pollution, the Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently issued a document requesting to vigorously promote the use of water-based coatings and coatings for interior and exterior walls of civil buildings throughout the city. strong>The use of water-based paint is mandatory, and the use of solvent-based interior and exterior wall paints and solvent-based interior and exterior wall adhesives are prohibited.
   The Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-rural Development requires design units to strictly implement the above requirements in architectural design and decoration design, and the construction drawing review agency should strictly control the inspection during the review. The competent construction department shall strictly control the work of building design and construction supervision. Vigorously advocate the implementation of the above requirements in home decoration.
Water-based coatings refer to coatings that use water as a solvent or dispersion medium, such as latex paint, etc. This type of coating is basically odorless, has very few volatiles, and is more environmentally friendly; Solvent-based coatings refer to coatings made with organic solvents as the dispersion medium. Organic solvents such as pine perfume, banana water, etc. need to be added during use, which are harmful to the human body and the environment.
The Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-rural Development revealed that this is a strict implementation of the “Notice on the issuance of the “Announcement on the Promotion and Application of Technology in the Construction Field in Zhejiang Province” and the “Announcement on the Prohibition and Restriction of the Use of Technology in the Construction Field in Zhejiang Province” (Jiang Fa [2014] No. 284), The decision was made to strengthen the implementation of the Provincial Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan, to effectively improve the quality of the city’s living environment, and to protect the health of the people.
