BASF invests US$40 million to expand automotive coatings production in North America
BASF is expanding the production of automotive coatings in North America and will invest nearly US$40 million in the next two years. The investment increases the company’s production capacity in Greenville, Ohio and Tultitlan, Mexico.
Chris Toomey, Senior Vice President of Coatings North America (Kleith Thom), BASF said: “These investments reflect our continued market growth and emphasize BASF’s commitment to developing sustainable production Platform to provide customized coating solutions.
In Greenville, the content of water-based primers for Tultitlan and electrophoretic emulsions has increased, and BASF continues to promote innovation by producing the most advanced automotive coatings. Water-based primer is a low-volatility organic composite coating product that imparts color to vehicles. Electrocoat or electroplated coating is a primer, which is suitable for vehicles to prevent corrosion.
“BASF is a process and product innovator. We are a global leader in integrated processes. We are the first to adopt water-based primer technology as part of our commitment to social responsibility and environmental protection.” (Zil) Frank Hezel said. “Our increased production capacity allows us to continue to innovate and serve our automotive coating customers.”
